Ruth A.  Allen, PhD, Endowed Scholarship

The Ruth A. Allen, PhD, Endowed Scholarship was established in 2013 through a generous gift by Dr. Allen to the UAMS Physician Assistant Program. Dr. Allen has served as an associate dean in the College of Health Professions, and as a professor in the UAMS Office of Educational Development and at the Clinton School of Public Service.  She has a PhD in Instructional Development and Technology and has been involved in the instruction of allied health, nursing and medical students.

Dr. Allen has also been a strong supporter of the PA Program and has been involved with the UAMS PA Program since the inception.  She has served on the inaugural PA Advisory Board and PA Faculty Search Committees.  Dr. Allen has been an advocate for community and public service and has participated in the Peace Corp in Malaysia.  She is a current member of many community organizations, served on the UAMS Patient and Family Centered Medical Home Committee, and participated with the UAMS PA Program Student Applicant Interviews.

Arkansas Medical, Dental, and Pharmaceutical Association Scholarship

The Arkansas Medical, Dental, and Pharmacy Association Scholarship (AMDPA) was established in 2013 through a generous donation from the AMDPA to the UAMS Physician Assistant Program. AMDPA is Arkansas’ leading minority health provider association. The mission of the AMDPA is to serve as the essential resource for its members and their patients toward ensuring professional excellence, promoting social justice, and realizing health equity in Arkansas. The goals of the association are to:

reduce and ultimately eradicate health disparities in Arkansas, increase diversity of the medical/dental/pharmacy workforce in Arkansas, provide relevant and cutting-edge information and services to members and their constituents, advocate for the interests of members and their patients through public policy, outreach and awareness. The AMDPA has a scholarship program for students pursuing careers primarily in medicine, dentistry and pharmacy at accredited institutions.

The 2013 recipient of the AMDPA Scholarship
is Antonia Hudson.
